SD35 Calling All Interested People
Election Year 2010 brings opportunities to people to express their activism and get involved in the local and state political process. How much involvement? To do what? Well that is basically up to you. Here are some avenues:
1) Join the Local DFL Board. Become a Director. You attend monthly meetings and gicve some time to keep the local party active and strong. To become a Director or an Officer (like Chair, treasurer, etc.) you appear before a small screening committee. You can also get nominated at the SD35 Convention on February 13th. Directors and Officers are elected at the Convention.
2) Become a Delegate. You can become a delegate to the national convention (in presidential elction years) and to State DFL Convention as this year. How? First you must attend the caucus and become a delegate to our SD35 DFL Convention that is on February13th at Prior Lake High School 10:00AM. We will send 16 delegates and 16 alternate delegates from SD35 to the State DFL Convention held in Duluth from April 23-25. Delegates vote on party matters and vote to endorse candidates for district and statewide offices.
3) Become a DFL Central Committee Member.The SD35 DFL Convention will elected a gender balanced slate of delegates and alternate delegates to serve on the State Central Committee. You may attend the pre-convention screening (to be posted) or be nominated at the convention. Positions are determined by an election of the district convention delegates.
4) Join Some Committees. Why join one when two will do? Maybe you are interested in helping some candidates. Maybe you like throwing parties and social events. Maybe you like to help out now and then on the phone or to put on some event. Opportunities are here! We will provide some volunteer sheets at the caucuses and conventions. Make it fun. Join up.
