Here at www.sd35dfl.org we’d like to foster an environment where ideas, information, and opinions are exchanged in a civil manner. By commenting on our site, you show you accept these rules and regulations.
The views reflected here:
The views posted/commented here may not reflect the views of everyone associated with the Minnesota Senate District 35 DFL.
We may refuse your comment for any number of reasons:
Please realize we may delete your comment for any number of reasons. If you disagree with that policy, please don’t comment on our site. Perhaps you can e-mail us your thoughts, instead: sd35dfl@gmail.com
To comment, you must have or be:
—>Good General Behavior, Tone
Be responsible, be respectful, and be within the law.
Also, you must:
- Avoid sarcasm
- Avoid addressing a person indirectly when disagreeing with them
- Avoid spreading rumors. You can ask questions, but stick to the facts and figures as best as possible.
If in doubt, contact us sd35dfl@gmail.com first to get some feedback before you post.
—>You must be you. And only you.
Be who you are IRL “In Real Life.” Do not impersonate anyone else.
—>You must be within the law
No illegal activity is allowed.
—>Content Standards and Ownership, You are the original author
Post only what you own, or very little of someone else’s work. Post less than 10% of another person’s work, and cite your source. We’d like conversational writing which is originally you.
—>Your words are public, not private, so be careful
We might highlight your comments on our blog. Or quote you later. Or package up your comments with the comments of others into a document for others to review. Reporters/bloggers might quote you. Most discussion comments are/can be archived on the web so anyone can read them and search engines can index them forever more.
—>Not for commercial use, so don’t comment to make money
Don’t comment to sell things here. If you might financially benefit from your comment, it is probably not okay to post it on www.sd35dfl.org . When in doubt, ask sd35dfl@gmail.com. Otherwise, keep the promotional stuff elsewhere.
Enforcement and Intervention:
We may edit your post or delete your post. If we do edit it, we’ll make note of us doing so within your comment.
Currently, our policy is to allow comments to be posted immediately instead of ‘moderating’ them, ie, reviewing and approving.
If you post something that, in our opinion, violates our guidelines, we usually will:
- Unapprove your comment to temporarily remove your comment from the discussion thread/public view. This retains the original, which is important for us and for you.
- Post a public comment of explanation, eg, “Name, I’ve moderated (temporarily removed) your comment because of our guidelines. Please try again, and if you need the text of your original, contact me and I’ll email it to you.”
Why the public intervention?
- Because comment threads can be subscribed to via RSS and email, they are IMMEDIATELY distributed. No matter how fast we might try to be in moderating the comment, many people will have seen it.
- A public intervention is a great way for our visitors to learn what’s acceptable and what’s not. Our intent is not to embarrass you, but unless we say something publicly, everyone will wonder what the hell’s going on.
That’s it! Let us know sd35dfl@gmail.com if you have suggestions on how to improve these guidelines.
