The Themes of John Kline’s Congressional Voting Record
John Kline has consistently VOTED AGAINST bills that would:
- Reduce deficit spending
- Raise the minimum wage
- Improve veterans benefits
- Reduce drug prices for Medicare recipients
- Reduce interest rates on student loans
- Strengthen the Freedom of Information Act
- Reduce dependency on oil
John Kline has consistently VOTED AGAINST bills that would:
- End the War in Iraq
- Protect employees wishing to form unions
- Protect Federal whistle blowers who expose corruption
- Expand protection against hate crimes
- Expand health care coverage
- Ban torture of prisoners
- Provide funding for district transportation projects including the Hastings Bridge
John Kline has consistently VOTED AGAINST bills that would:
- Address global warming (or even acknowledge it)
- Fund the replacement of our Interstate 35W bridge
- Preserve electronic records such as Presidential email
- Secure our borders or fulfill the 9/11 Commissions recommendations
- Provide expanded health care coverage for kids
- Develop alternative energy sources and technologies
The question we have is why has our voice in Congress voted so many times against so many issues that many of his fellow Republicans have found to be reasonable. We believe that Rep. Kline’s positions simply do not match those held by most of the citizens that he represents.
John Kline DID SUPPORT bills that would:
- Build toll roads in Minnesota
- Not allow shareholders to vote on executive compensation
- Cut federal support to K-12 education
- Establish a permanent U.S. military presence in Iraq
- Create the largest deficts in U.S. History
- Require higher prescription costs for seniors and tax payers under Medicare Part D
And JOHN KLINE HAS:
- Praised President Bush for doing an “incredible job” with the economy
- Stated education is one of the keys to economic prosperity….. and then voted against it
- Verbally Supported veterans and then voted against them
- Verbally Supported Minnesota transportation and then voted against them
- Claimed to advocate fiscal conservatism but then promoted the largest deficits in history and the biggest run up in debt on the planet
- Taken hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the oil and energy industries
The question before voters in the Second Congressional District is whether John Kline actually represents we citizens, or if John Kline better represents interests of those outside our state.
